| These large paintings take the form of figurative fantasia: group portraits of figures which have both personal significance and allegorical or metaphorical meanings that might be more widely recognizable. These 'portraits ' take a particular form, drawn from photographic portraiture of the kind we associate with formal images of groups and theatrical scenes; instants in time where the subjects themselves selected particular poses to express an idealized view of themselves or to play a particular role.
